Over the past 20-odd years, our society has greatly benefited from the internet and the business activities of our companies and individuals in the global market.
Today, over 100,000 citizens work in this ‘IT economy,’ contributing an impressive ~10% to the GDP.
Our conclusion is that the AI transformation we are witnessing will significantly change the state of the IT economy everywhere in the world, including here.
Ordinary people like us do not question whether this change will occur, but we do wonder whether the consequences will be harmful (the trend is suboptimal), or, on the contrary, very beneficial for us.
The IT economy was obvious to many, including us, when we started focusing on it as an organization in late 2007.
We organized literally thousands of events of all sizes and various programs to help the community make the best use of it for themselves and society.
The AI economy became apparent to us last year, and since then, we have created hackathons, startup competitions, a festival, and other programs to promote this idea as well.
The audience’s response has unequivocally told us that there is a huge interest and need in the community for content and tools that will help us all make the best use of the AI revolution.
We believe that the following areas of action and thinking are key to a very beneficial outcome, a successful transition to the AI economy:
These will also be the topics of over 100 planned events and two tools that we will present on October 8th. The programs will be intended for, among others:
90% of this content will be freely available to the public, thanks to the support of our partners.
To the same extent, the program will be in English to maximize the potential of all members of the IT community in Serbia for learning and mutual support; for the same reason, the majority of the events will be held in person.
The implementation of the program in 2026 will be made possible by the investment fund Lost Astronaut.
The creation of these programs and the work on them during 2025 have so far been supported by: OTP Banka, Solflare, Altlabs, Insightful, Levi9, Nortal, Zuhlke, Streamflow, Mihailo Bjelić, Mališa Pušonja, Aleksandar Bijelić, Qsense, Vacation Tracker, Tenstorrent.
We owe additional thanks to the partner organizations that have supported our programs this year: Nova Iskra, CDT Hub, Digital Serbia Initiative, Belgrade MongoDB User Group, Dizajn Zajednica, Belgrade.js, Superteam, Garaža, Netokracija, Empple, Product DrinkUp, Data Sanity, Belgrade Blockchain Week, Kriva, IT Connect, Machinery, SGA, ICT Hub, HeapSpace, and Python Belgrade.
