Powering the Perception: The Serbian Engineering Behind Global AI

Powering the Perception: The Serbian Engineering Behind Global AI

On Tuesday, May 26th, at 6:30 PM, as part of AI Week, we are organizing an exclusive technical event with two engineers from Rivian's Autonomy team.

Rivian is an American electric vehicle manufacturer, Rivian Volkswagen Group Technologies is a JV with VW, and both have a large team in Belgrade.

Their engineering teams work on some of the most serious technological challenges — from vehicle environment perception all the way to fully autonomous driving, and all the prerequisites that make it possible.

Why this matters

Autonomy is one of the most technically demanding fields in the entire IT industry — sensor fusion, real-time planning under uncertainty, safety-critical validation, and ML models that must work flawlessly in the physical world.

Today, only 0.003% of vehicles worldwide have an advanced form of autonomy, yet regulatory and market dynamics dictate that eventually all of them will need to.

The outlook appears enormous and long-term, and at this talk, colleagues from Rivian will provide an inside look at part of the infrastructure and processes behind it.

What will be covered

The talks cover a large part of the autonomous driving stack — from distributed training of ML models, through the platform that manages their lifecycle, to ML applications that ultimately drive the car.

From the program:

The full program will be announced soon. Our speakers are Ksenija Milenkovic, Senior Software Engineer, ML Apps, Autonomy and Milijan Bogdanovic, Senior Software Engineer, ML Infra, Autonomy, both from the autonomy team.

Attendance is free, with mandatory registration
