Ima i par interesantnih anegdota u tekstu, najinteresantnija mi je tvrdnja o ključnoj ideji za iPhone touch ekran koju je navodno Džobs dobio nakon svađe sa nekim iz Microsofta.
Engineers within Apple had been pushing this idea since early 2000s. And yet, Steve remained adamant. Apple would not build a mobile phone, period.
He had his reasons.
For one, Steve seemed to hate corporations. When announcing the very first Macintosh in 1984, he presented Apple as a “rebel force” that offered hope against the “evil empire,” IBM.
Even when Apple grew beyond anyone’s expectations, he still thought of it as the “world’s largest startup.”
Building a smartphone meant working with phone carriers like Verizon. A.k.a., big evil corporations.
And not just working. From what I understand, carriers have a definite say in mobile phone production.
That did not sit well with Jobs, who liked to control every part of the process.
Another reason was that Steve simply hated mobile phones of the time.
It’s easy to look at the big touchscreen and think, yeah, that was the natural evolution of the phone all along.
No, nobody was thinking that in 2005. Nobody was thinking that phones could become the single most important device in everyone’s lives.
